Blog#5: Kumagaya city (Yuka)

I live in Kumagaya city in Saitama. Kumagaya city is very hot in summer. In 2007, the temperature is Kumagaya city is highest is Japan. There is a big thermometer in front of a shopping mall.
Famous speciality of my city is  original shaved ices, "Yukikuma(雪くま）. In summer, many shops sell various shaved ices. This name's origin is snow and name of my city. The shaved ice is very soft and looks like snow. Theirs syrup is various and rare. For example, caramel syrup, cocoa syrup, and tomato syrup. Yukikuma made from water in my city. These prices are 300~700 yen. This is site of Yukikuma.

Blog#5: Satte (Kana)

I would like to introduce about my city. I live in Satte city, Saitama, it takes about one and half an hour from Gakushuin university to my city.

Satte is famous for cherry blossoms. There are a lot of them at gongendo(権現堂).

You should see this cherry blossom and rape blossoms. Especially, during the end of March and the beginning of April, they are so beautiful! Also, a cherry blossom festival is held in this city this time. Many people visit gongendo to see cherry blossoms and rape blossoms. And there are many roadside stands.  So, you should see flowers as you eat yakisoba, choco-banana, deep-fried chicken and so on.

Moreover, there are some flowers besides cherry blossoms. We enjoy them all year round, for example, a narcissus (水仙) in January, a hydrangea (紫陽花) in June,　a cluster amaryllis (彼岸花)　in September and so on.

 

Next, Satte is known for raki-suta(らき☆すた), too.

 

raki-suta is a four-frame comic strip and animation. And this story is the stage for it because this cartoonist lives in Satte. So, if you know it, you should find place, drawn in this story.

 



 

 

                                                                

 

#5 Chofu (Megumu)

Hi, I live in Chofu. Do you know Chofu? Chofu is  a city of Tokyo. Chofu is known for stage of the "Gegege No Nyobo". "Gegege No Nyobo" is Japanese morning drama. This is the story of wife of Sigeru Mizuki that is the author of "Gegege No Kitaro".

I think Chofu's fireworks is very interesting! This is big fireworks display to do in Tama River. Stalls are also a lot. It will be held on 24th August this summer.

Blog#4: Asakusa (Maho)

I live in Asakusa, Taito Ward. There is known for Kaminarimon and Sensoji. Kaminarimon has big lantern and the god of winds and thunder. You will be surprised at the size of them. Sensoji is one of the famous temple in Japan. There holds Sanja festival in May. You can experience Japanese culture by it.

                                                                                                                                                                            And you should see the Denboin street which is lined with neat rows of stores and houses and find the Nezumi-Kozou. You can see him somewhere in this street.
